Spring Zig-Zag (May 11-Jun 12)
The Zig-Zag Tour does exactly as the name implies! We’ll start at Hilltop Ranch (near Houston), then zig-zag back-and-forth across the country to hit three USA BMX nationals; Spring Nationals in Albuquerque, NM (May 19-21), Music City Nationals in Nashville, TN (May 26-28), and Great Salt Lake Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT (June 9-11).
Tour length: Four weeks, three days
Tour Starts: May 11/12 in Houston, TX
Tour Ends: June 12 in Salt Lake City, UT
Tour Length: Four weeks, three days
States Crossed: Seven (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Arizona, Utah)
Approximate Mileage: 4700 miles
Week One: Fly into Houston, TX on May 11-12. Train and shred Hilltop Ranch, one of the baddest, most complete BMX training facilities out there and home to Hunter Pelham, winner of A-Pro at the 2016 USA BMX ROC and Grands. From there we’ll go down and explore Galveston Island on the Gulf Coast and do some training on the beach.
Week Two/Three: From Houston, we’ll head west for the USA BMX Spring National at Duke City BMX in Albuquerque, NM (May 19-21). Duke City is one of the few covered facilities in the USA, so you’re guaranteed great race conditions. On Monday, May 22nd, we’ll head back east to Nashville, TN for the Music City Nationals (May 26-28), making a few stops at USA BMX tracks and key tourist traps, like Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. Music City BMX is an iconic track on the circuit and is famous for it’s blistering fast, drag-strip style first straight. You better get the leg speed up for that one!
Week Three/Four: From Nashville, we’ll head back west on I-40 and make our way to one of the grandest canyons in the world, the Grand Canyon! Carved out over millions of years by the Colorado River, this 18 mile wide, 277 mile long, and mile deep canyon has to be seen to be believed. From there, we’ll make our way over to Las Vegas for a few days, stopping at Hoover Dam on the way. The Las Vegas area is home to four USA BMX tracks, and we’ll do our best to hit them all!
Final Week: From Vegas, the train will roll north on I-15 toward Salt Lake City for the Great Salt Lake National at Rad Canyon BMX (June 9-11), hitting a few tracks along the way. On Monday, June 12th you’ll fly home from the Salt Lake City International Airport or make other arrangements.
